چکیده

Preliminary experiments have shown that the quality of printed images depends on the capacity of the printing system to accurately reproduce details. We propose to improve the quality of printed images by compensating for the Modulation Transfer Function (MTF) of the printing system. The MTF of the printing system is measured using the method proposed by Jang and Allebach, in which test pages consisting of series of patches with different 1D sinusoidal modulations (modified to improve the accuracy of the results) are printed, scanned and analyzed. Then the MTF is adaptively compensated in the Fourier domain, depending both on frequency and local mean values. Results of a category judgment experiment show significant improvement as the printed MTF compensated images obtain the best scores.

A new method for printer calibration and contour accuracy manufacturing with 3D‐print technology

Purpose – This paper aims to verify a new method for accurate part manufacturing using a 3D printer. In particular, the direction and position dependence of the printed results are to be verified within the building area. The results of the accomplished experiments are to be used for the computation of new printer adjustments. Design/methodology/approach – Test cubes with a defined edge length ...

Genome-wide in silico identification of membrane-bound transcription factors in plant species

Membrane-bound transcription factors (MTFs) are located in cellular membranes due to their transmembrane domains. In plants, proteolytic processing is considered to be the main mechanism for MTF activation, which ensures the liberation of MTFs from membranes and further their translocation into the nucleus to regulate gene expression; this process skips both the transcriptional and translationa...

Saliency driven Black Point Compensation

We present a novel framework for automatically determining whether or not to apply black point compensation (BPC) in image reproduction. Visually salient objects have a larger influence on determining image quality than the number of dark pixels in an image, and thus should drive the use of BPC. We propose a simple and efficient algorithmic implementation to determine when to apply BPC based on...

Spectro-temporal modulation transfer functions and speech intelligibility.

Detection thresholds for spectral and temporal modulations are measured using broadband spectra with sinusoidally rippled profiles that drift up or down the log-frequency axis at constant velocities. Spectro-temporal modulation transfer functions (MTFs) are derived as a function of ripple peak density (omega cycles/octave) and drifting velocity (omega Hz). The MTFs exhibit a low-pass function w...

Using iterative learning control with basis functions to compensate medium deformation in a wide-format inkjet printer

The increase of paper size and production speed in wide-format inkjet printing systems is limited by significant in-plane deformation of the paper during printing. To increase both the production speed and paper size, the compensation of paper deformation is essential. A potential approach to compensate the paper deformation is actively changing the longitudinal paper position during a lateral ...
